observation hours
By Pauli

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Holly-
My response won't be an exact comparison, since I've already graduated and am in a teaching credential program as a career changer. But I can tell you that my BS degree was not in education, so the hours I am
getting now are all the "official" experience I am receiving. I will have completed 90 hours of observation/field experience by this December as part of my program. This is prior to my student teaching, which starts in January.

I have two semesters of student teaching to complete by the end of the program. First semester includes 16 hours a week of student teaching (two days). Final

semester is full time student teaching (five days a week). Hope that helps answer your question.

I think every bit of field experience helps. Although, it can be tough fitting in the hours between college courses and work. I work part time, am in school full time, and have fit in 30-60 hours each semester of "observations" for the past two semesters.

P.S. You didn't mention how many hours you are getting? Do you feel it is not enough, just right or too much?
