...that you didn't get more responses to your post. One other possibility occurred to me, but it would depend on your current company's willingness to put it into action.

Most schools would LOVE to have some sort of partnership
with a company that allows their students to experience real-world applications of what they learn in school. You say you hate your job, but I don't know if that's because of the nature of engineering or the company itself. If you like your company but not your job, maybe you could help to set up a school-business partnership and act as the liaison. This would give you the opportunity
not only to be involved with the education of students, but also to make contacts with teachers in your community who might be able to give you better answers to your questions (discreetly, of course). If the partnership were to work out, maybe eventually you could become a full-time teacher but retain a part-time job with your current company, continuing to run the program.

I have no idea if this would work or if anyone has ever tried anything like this. But then, where would this world be if no one ever tried anything new?
