Voyager curriculum
By Mrs. Thomas

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! I am a new teacher and am using the Voyager series for 3rd grade. It is very user-friendly, but if your kids are not well versed in "Christianese", you have some explaining to do. Words such as 'righeousness' are used
freely without explanation. Also, some lessons assume kids have been raised Christian.

We do one memory verse daily and the kids seem to be able to keep up (well, most of them if they take the verse home to practice it!)

I teach one lesson daily. The lessons are broken down A & B parts of the same topic. There are blackline masters to copy for homework or classwork or when

they have time. I've liked most so far, but am only up to 5A (Abraham & Sarah are soon to have Isaac)

One lesson really bothered me, and went way over kids' heads. Early on in lesson 3A (Cain & Abel) it calls for poster 2 which uses terminology my kids we unfamiliar with. Actually, many adults don't know the terms! Also, the 10 commandments are compared to Jesus' work for us on the cross. We didn't LEARN the 10 Commandments yet!

Oterhwise, I think you will enjoy the layout.

Be blessed!
