Science club
By Sue W.

Clip to ScrapBook
Our school is just starting a science club, in fact it was proposed by one of the mom's who is a veterinarian, and supported by help from teacher volunteers. The first 3 sessions will be about animals. The vet will bring
a cat or dog the first session and demonstrate a well-animal exam to half the group, around 20 kids, and take questions. There will be other activities for the other half, a snack, making name tags, a story with developing an ongoing list of questions. Second session will get into body systems, possibly a lung model. The third session will be a field trip to the vet's office. We have
other parents who want to get involved. One is a geologist who has lots of fossils and has been on archeological digs. Another is a farmer who has a number of ideas of what could be done. Kitchen chemistry is an idea for winter. Since this is in the infant stage we would like to hear what other science clubs are doing. Do you divide groups by age? We are just going with multi-age at this point, K-5. We plan on sessions from 3:00 to 4:30 pm, in three session sets on a topic.
