Clip to ScrapBook
I work downtown in Columbia, South Carolina at an ITI school of the arts. We are reqiured to do centers most of the day while we intergrate all subject areas. I use the Pat Cunningham model for reading and make a lot of my
math centers. This week my students are reading Postcards From Pluto and their activities include; make a word (astronomy), writing- make a postcard or space story, research create a timeline of space travel or research each planet and write three facts about them, vocab illustrate space words and write their own def., Lit circle book talk with Q&A worksheet, cursive writing center, book
making with facts about the planets, games Scrabble- Boggle and some home made games. I have a listening center for my ESL students. I also teach math, SS and science using the center model. The project we are doing for science includes; students choosing a partner and planet, comparing their planet to Earth using a double bubble, Venn Daigram or T chart. Writing 1-3 paragraphs about their planet and making a poster or model of the Solar System. The students will be required to do most of their research on their own during class. Please e-mail me if you have any questions.
