good point about cheating on the tests
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I know for a fact that some teachers cheat. There is soooo much test security, signing the tests out, signing them in, but there is absolutely no reason why a teacher couldn't slip into the ladies' room and change a few
students' test booklets along the way! We have had scandals with the tests in South Carolina in the past, including one in our own district where I teach. (This was in the newspaper.)

I could understand a teacher's motivation to cheat. When your students don't score well, your principal thinks YOU can't teach and need assistance in getting on track. She/he thinks that you must not

cover everything. You are told that you might not have your contract renewed. They perform a formal observation on you more frequently. When you get high scores, you walk on water and nobody disturbs you. You are even looked up to--admired--and made into a role model who is adored.

I refuse to cheat. I also refuse to allow people to tell me that I'm not doing 150% every day. Testing should be a 50-50 proposition. Fifty percent of the responsibility should lie on the teacher's shoulders, while the other 50% should be the responsibility of the parents and the student.
