transformations
By andrea

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi. Sorry I didn't really explain. I didn't want to go into detail if readers already knew what they were.
Transformations were introduced to us at a gifted and talented in service. However, they are great to do in
the reg. ed classroom too!

It's just 'transforming' something into something else. The original image is a part of a larger picture.
Basically you give the student a plain (white) sheet of paper with an image on it (ex. 4, C, plain outline of a pumpkin, squiggle line)
They can turn the paper any way, upside down, on its side, whatever, until they "see" what else the image could

be.

I tell them to add lots of detail and background. The title is usually
A ___________ is not a _____________ when it's a ________________.
One year I had, A 5 is not a 5 when its a wheelchair. It was really really good.
I've had A triangle is not a triange when its a sea dragon's fin. But I mostly get party hats and ice cream cones. They do get better as the year progresses and they understand the concept better.
I believe it's part of the G.T. testing on our campus.
Hope I explained it well!
