    The Nanny (sorry so long)

I have been a nanny and now have a nanny for my children, ages 3 and 1.5. I choose to have a nanny because I do not like the daycare/ preschool atmosphere that I have seen in many places. Our nanny's primary responsibility is, obviously, the children, but it is much more than babysitting. As educators we understand the importance of all of the learning which must come BEFORE kindergarten. The job of our nanny is to (help me) teach our children these skills. (colors, letters, drawing, coloring, cutting, pasting, some writing and reading, proper manners in many situations, the way plants grow, etc.) My children are receiving individualized instruction from a very caring individual. By the way, we do not REQUIRE any household duties from our nanny. She is there to care for the children. However, when they nap, she chooses to do our laundry, and other light housework. There is always a little something extra in her pay to show our appreciation for her extra effort. I'm curious, what does a nanny get paid other places? We pay just over $900 per month for 32 hours a week. I know that is more than daycare but I don't have the extra doctor bills associated with daycare colds either!
