Like any state, there are good and bad school systems. And within those school systems, there are good and bad schools. NC has 100 counties and the so-called "BAD" counties are Moore, Hoke, Robeson, Harnett and Person counties. On | the other hand, Wake, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Guilford, Durham, Pitt, just to name a few are onsidered to be the better counties. That's what I was told when I first began teaching, and from personal experience I found that not to be true. But let me just say that NC is a beautiful state, from the mountains to the coast. I really don't think you can judge a school system | | as much as you can the individual schools. Remember it's the prinicipal you'll be working for and each principal has its own ways of spending money, delegating duties, etc.Do you like big cities? Then you'll like Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte. Do you like the small-town atmosphere? Then you'll like Fayetteville (which is on the outskirts of Ft. Bragg), Raeford, St. Pauls, Southern Pines, and Pinehurst. The coast is beautiful as are the mountains. Lots of choices! I just hope that if you do come to NC, you'll find a good school and have a great experience. A satisfied NC teacher
