Wrong place
By Sue W.

Clip to ScrapBook
With so many young teachers, I am wondering if you are at a new school in an existing district? When jobs open in our district, they are first posted within the district to allow for transfer. Is that option open to you?
Transfer within the district should not affect your achieveing tenure.

I had been at a school 13 years when a new principal made my life, and the lives of many of the teachers miserable. I jumped at the chance when a position came up, it meant moving up one grade level but was well worth it. After 4 years of successful teaching you have the advantage of what you have learned through

experience, much of which can help at a different level. Some materials can be used at different grade levels to, with minor modifications, but your sanity and peace of mind are worth more than any materials you have accumulated.
It may be only September, but you have been there long enough to know what it is really like. When you are sick of school in September, it is a danger signal. Tenure where you are miserable is not all that great! There are places where you would be happier, I am sure, but it may take come serious seaching. Good luck to you.
