reading stations

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! We do reading rotations for about 15 minutes, but it seems like I'm running around for nearly 5 of those putting out fires! :o) Some activities my kids and I enjoy:

letter cards: I say a word, they find the cards
to spell it, or...they have sight word cards, I say a word, they need to find it. (With the sounds, I put in nonsense words everyonce in a while just to make things interesting.)

white board: we go up to the front board, or use the little boards to write words, sounds, letters etc. this varies from group to group.

guided reading...we sometimes read AR books, and they can take a

test on them afterwords.

picture match...kids find a word, adn locate a picture to match it.

I tend to play alot of 'games' with my groups (I have Jr. 1st and were mostly working on letter sounds). we play guess the letter/sound/word (kids in 2 groups first one to say the letter/sound/word gets to keep the card, or I've drawn on their fingernail with white board markers..they LOVE that!).one with the most cards wins at the end)

I'm not sure that I've given you any great ideas! Good luck!!

Michele
