translation services By Carolyn

If I were in your situation, I'd attempt to contact the parents even though they can't speak English. I have a student from Mexico this year who can speak English well himself, but his mother barely speaks it. She has to| rely upon her two children to translate everything I say to her into Spanish. What I have learned in dealing with her is that she genuinely cares about what her son is doing in school. I have tried very hard not to allow the language barrier become an issue for me. If I want to send her something more detailed, I will go go altavista translation services online (that's the name of their | | website), and receive a translation. Granted, the translation isn't perfect, but you can communicate in whatever language you need to with this. The parents will also love you and want to help you because you are making an attempt to communicate with them in their native language. Try this and see if it works for you. I really do believe that your parents will become upset with their children very quickly and want to help you. Your guidance counselor is another person to come in and speak with your children about proper manners, including honesty, which, unfortunately, some of them may not be getting taught at home.
