Clip to ScrapBook
hi hi,
I am an art teacher so we share the same feelings, I'm sure. I have tables also, with 3 to4 students at each. I give a star to tables that are being good listeners, not talking, not touching anyone or anything,
and for those who are being disruptive I give a frown face. I made up little score cards with team 1-6 and a line to record the star or frown. I assign one student to be score keeper for the day and they record my commands of give table 4 a star for working so hard, or whatever. Then at the end of each marking period I take those score cards, add up each star, a frown takes a star
away, and the team with the most stars wins a small treat from ME. Usually two or three pieces of small candy, like tootsie rolls or a small candy bar. I hope this helps. If you are wondering if 5th graders are too old for this, they aren't. especially if you start it now with all the grades, by the time the little ones are in 5th grade they will be more respectful. I have already noticed a differece in 5th grade attitude compared to my first year, this is my third. Point being, they always know what to expect!
