You CAN do it!

Rachel,

I want you to encourage you in some way... I understand your frustration. I was SO scared of the algebra class I had to take for the teaching program. I can honestly say that algebra became my favorite class
because I was able to see patterns. I believe that having the right instructor makes all the difference, because they all approach the concepts differently.

If a student happens to have a learning style that is aligned with the teacher's teaching style, then there's success for the student. The challenge for the teacher, though, is to understand the different learning styles of the

students, and implement the different strategies for understanding.

This is what makes a great teacher, and I can assure you that what you're experiencing now will only strengthen your teaching abilities. It sounds like you have a heart for teaching, which is important, but the struggles you go through now to get there will give you the "soft" heart you'll need to be an effective teacher.

Don't give up finding the right tutor to help you see a pattern, so that you can build on that as you learn more complex concepts. You need to "get it" from the get go, because it builds upon previous foundations. Talk to your instructors and other students..."handpick" your math teacher.

Most of all----DON'T GIVE UP!
