Remembrance Day
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't have any song ideas yet, but I'll try to think of something.

I know Peter Puffin has some great music - Kid's Hearts might work well for a Remembrance Day Ceremony. You can find out more about his music at

href="http://www.puffin.ca">http://www.puffin.ca

He also has a song called Song of Peace that you can listen to on his website.

For an art idea.......

I have my students discuss Peace and what it means to them. We talk about how Peace might feel, how it would make us feel. Then we brain-storm things that make us feel Peace (or peaceful) and I write them on the board.

Then

they choose one idea to draw on the inside of a paper plate. I come around and write Peace Is... (on the top of the plate) and then their idea on the bottom.

Some ideas that came up in past years.

Peace is...

cuddling with my kitten
walking in the woods with my dad
staring at the stars at night
my favorite blanket
being with my grandma
riding my horse
reading a book

Another idea is making a poppy using hands as the petals for the poppy.

I have quite a few links for Remembrance day as well on my web page, just email me for the link.
