"No Cild Left Behind"
By Mary

Clip to ScrapBook
I work for the public schools, and for this no child left behind, I personally feel that it is harming the children more than helping them. My daughter was in the 8th grade last year and failed almost all of her classes.
When I met with the staff about holding her back, I was told they don't do that anymore. I was shocked. To make a long story short she is redoing the 8th grade. Depending on her grades for the first semester, she might be moved to 9th grade. But my daughter knew that no matter what she did in school she was going to be moved to the next grade. They always told me she was passing
do to her best interest. Well it was no longer her best interests. School has just started but the change in her behavior has been great! The first few weeks were hard, but she knows that if she wants to move on she has to buckle down and do the work. I feel this was the best thing I could do for her. Believe me at the time I felt very unsure, but not eny more. Most kids know that no matter what they do in class they will still be moved on to the next class. I could go on forever on this subject. But "No Child Left Behind" is going to hurt ours kids in the long run.
