full-time sub

Clip to ScrapBook
Nicole,
I have no experience with this concept but just wanted to say that I think its an excellent idea and one I have been discussing with a friend for several weeks myself. I was glad to see someone else had thought
of it too! I am an EL ED grad who is subbing while looking for a teaching job and am signed up in 4 towns to sub in order to get enough work. I would LOVE to show up to one school everyday- at least we'd be working with the same people and somewhat be a member of the staff and would know what we were doing to some extent in advance. I definitely think it would be wise for districts to
take advantage of this idea- it just makes good sense, instead of frantically calling people in the morning at the last minute, someone is ready to work. Unfortunately in my area, interns (those going for their masters in ED and do this work-study program) take that role as they work in one school everyday and take my sub jobs! lol. However I think it's very worthwhile to present to them and I agree that working in different classrooms helping out or being an aide when not needed are reasonable solutions for when there is no teacher out for you to cover. Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.
