Clip to ScrapBook
Let me see...I know I made vocab. games to go with the novels we read. I took about 14 vocab. words from each and made a 2 sets of cards, one with words & one with definitions. I had them place the word cards face down
on marked areas on the board. The definitions went in a stack. They'd choose a definition card and turn over a vocab. card, trying to find a match. If they found it, they got to keep it, if not the def. went back in the pile.
I also made math games where they drew a card with a basic mult. problem. They have to give the product. (There are corresponding products in the spaces on
the game board-on a sort of rounded square shaped outline) If they get it right within 5 seconds, they put a playing piece on the board, if not, they don't. Some of the cards say to remove an opponent's piece, take an extra turn, lose a turn, etc. The first player with 10 on the board wins.
Also, I know I did one with spelling words. They must spell the word on the card their opponent selects from the pile. They roll the die and move their marker from start to finish. Some of the board squares have penalties, and some have rewards.
They're easy to make-permanant markers are a must, though. I like that they're cheap and pretty durable, too.
