My two cents... By Michelle

I just wanted to say that I had to student teach with a "screamer." I almost went to the principal to tell her my concerns and the effect it was having on those kids. I didn't but later found out it wouldn't have helped| because the principal and this screaming teacher were best buds!!!!I do not know what level this teacher you are talking about is taking her yelling but if you have ANY doubts I think it would be best to switch her ASAP. This might be a case of verbal abuse and it may not be deliberate...just lack of skills on the teacher's part. Listen to your child. She is obviously distraught and | | that is so sad.The reason I say this is because from my short experience I know it doesn't take much to intimidate those little ones. An uncomfortable stare, getting down to eye level with a stern voice ("please raise your hand if you have a question") are effective ways to get the point to these new young students. Although it is important to let them know who is boss...I have learned that we need to constantly search for the best way to make sure that respect is a TWO WAY street. I search everyday for new ideas so I don't wind up like that. That is NOT a teacher. That is a unhappy person trying to survive in the teaching world (my opinion). Hope this helps you.
