Have Faith in Yourself
By Been There

Clip to ScrapBook
For one thing - don't ever compare yourself to others. You are a unique individual with many special talents that other people wish they had. Your talents and perspective create a classroom that is different that others.
Students who enter your room are exposed to the opportunities that only you can offer.
There will be always be parents that complain. Some years they complain louder than other years. There will always be parents who support what you are offering. Some years they praise louder than other years. Realize that the special something that makes you -- you --is what you are offering your
class. It will never be the same as another class. You will never be the same as another teacher.
As for the extras - they are extras. Students and parents would much prefer you to teach and be comfortable with what you are doing. If you try to overextend yourself, you may end up sick or just crabby. Have faith and confidence in your abilities and don't compare yourself to others. Create your own measuring stick to evaluate your performance. REWARD yourself too. When I started I was compared to teachers who had taught at my level for years. They were doing the same thing as they had for the last 10 years. I refused to do that. If I completed the worksheet or read the book when I was in Fourth grade -- I refused to teach with it. Parent's were upset -- so let them. Have faith
