Memory books
By kcv

Clip to ScrapBook
I make memory books for my students and they are a big hit at the end of the year. At the start of the year, I ask each family to share why their kindergartner is the apple of their eye (ie. Kathy is the apple of my eye
because...) on the shape of an apple. As they turn them in, I paste them onto red, green, or yellow as a background and make a bulletin board with them. You can make pies or apple trees with the phrase, "The Best of the Bunch", or " How do you like these apples?" The apple will be used to help make the cover of each child's memory book. The top will say, "Kathy is a good apple!" The
bottom will say, "Mrs. Smith's Kindergarten Class 2003-2004." Each month the class will make their own page pertaining to a theme with special craft items.
September- Fall Trees (Sponge paint and sand)
October- A Witch (Yarn)
November- Turkey (Corn & feathers)
December- Reindeer(Red sequences and glitter)
January- Snowman (Wrapping paper & cotton)
February- Valentines (Felt & pennies)
March- Leprechauns (Candy gold coins)
April- Rainy Day (Silver glitter and tissue paper)
May- Flowers (Oragami)
June- Sunshine Days (Yarn & anything left)
These will be your pages. On the back of each page, I put poems, pictures, or events that happened in class or to that child that were special. I also have them dram a self-portrait 3 times throughout the year to show growth. I have a book binder, but a 3 hole-punch could easily do a good job too. I've had great feedback from parents.
