We are missing a lot

I am a special needs teacher and feel very dumped on I have to take everyone and anyone without saying I cannot handle this. Don't even let me tell you the dynamics of my classroom - And I am sure many special ed. teachers
can say the same. I often have joked about putting the statue of liberty outside my door. We get them all and with little support or time but manage. Sometimes it just takes thinking outside your box to come up with a solution and a lot of hard work. I have to make it work in my room and have always felt this way. Take a moment to think about that when you refer this child to my

room - but then again I also don't have those other children to be held accountable for and this gives me the freedom to be creative. I do get burnt out too though and feel taken for granted I feel I speak for a lot of special ed teachers out there who are told " I can only do a lesson for your kids for a half an hour" or have many students sent back during my prep time and what is that anyway??? and don't even go into lunch time all of you who have free recess and lunch and a prep we special ed envy you especially the ones who have self contained classes - life skills ES.... You know who you are. And we still get duties etc... but I do like my job and know I make a difference and those children know it too. I guess that is where the rewards come - not to mention having some of those kiddos for 4 plus years!!! Keep hanging in there.
