Subbing for a class By Mi Vida Loca

I can say that the advice that you have gotten is good. But be careful, by asking for your name to be taken off the call list can be dangerous. I mean, they may never call you, and sometimes, it may not be so easy to go| to another school. It may be like starting over. If I had a sub come to me to be taken off the list, I wouldn't consider them for a perm. position, because as far as I know, they aren't subbing anymore. In my district, I post the class to be filled. Sometimes, I can't post it for long, so I always urge the interested subs to apply asap. I interview each and every one of them, | | and check their references from other schools, firends, administrators. I also take into consideration, the amount of time a person has been subbing, I also check the evaluations of the subs (in my district they get evaluated after being there a year). This is one of those subjects where you are going to have to make your decision according to how well you know your school. Going off a list may work for one, but not another. Yes, subs do tend to become "very available", or "called in too often". It's easy for us to get caught up in calling one all the time because he/she is a great sub. You are probably a great sub, and may have become too available for your school or schools. I suggest talking to the principal and explain that you are intersted in the next available position, and that you are concerned that since you are always available, that may interfere with her decision. See what she says.
