Re: Author's viewpoint By M.

Do you mean the points of view used in by the author? I first teach First Person and Third Person. Next, I explain that there is a second person, but isn't used very much. I have the students go to the computer and see who| can search online to find what second person is. The first person who finds wins a treat and then we go back to the room and discuss books that student's have read that are written in second person. This takes the longest, I thought a lot of students would read the Choose your own Adventure or Nightmare books, but they usually haven't, and I end up telling them about the books-then a | | lot of the kids end of reading them after this lesson ! Then we talk about books we have read in class that are in first person and third person and make a list. I hang up the list and we add to it as the year goes on and we read more books! Then we do a project. The project is that I use whatever story we are reading and have them retell the story using MANY DETAILS (they can make some up aswell, but they need almost all of them from the story in theirs)and they also have to be someone else in the story other than the person telling it. They are to start off by listing all of the details in the order they occur in the story. Then they have to prewrite ideas for the story, Next is the rough draft, evaluation by a peer, and then proofread by the writer, a partner, and then a family memember if possible. Then they write the final copy. The students seem to love the project.
