In an ideal world, teachers will have others cover their supervision especially before school but 99 percent of the time I don't think it crosses their minds.Like you, I am always at any school at least 1/2 to 3/4 of an | hour early to get to know what I need to do. But as replacement teachers we are fully expected to be able to stroll in and complete the day as if we are that teacher. Also I always check the superivision/duty schedule as many many times a teacher will forget to write that on the plans. Perhaps they were too busy or did not think my needs through. It does not take long to figure out if | | you have an honest person who is not trying to "use" you. I get really annoyed if I read the schedule and see I have been stiffed with other teacher's duty as well as the teacher. Very simply, I do not bother ever going back for a teacher that abuses my services. It is not even worth writing a note about this to them as I think they would simply decide to badmouth my reputation. Odd, though lol that they will try to keep booking you. I am conveniently, "unavailable".Always expect that you will be on supervision! That way if you anticipate this it is a real little bonus if you don't have any. I personally don't mind before school or a.m. recess. I loathe lunch duty. I have often wondered as well when a sub is put on bus duty. I may not know the kids and especially what bus the wee ones take. Many times I have been on duty with a complete team of subs. I think one person on staff should always be on at the end of the day.
