Sounds like a meeting is in order By Cathy-Dee

I agree with the last posters. First you need to have a meeting with your administrator and discuss these issues with him or her before you really end up not being able to cope with what is happening.Start first with | the classroom issue - is this going to stay this way for the year - if so then you need to be firm in saying that you will not be taking things down every week. And when no one shows up to take things down - don't do it, leave it and then the Church members will get the message that they do need to follow through. As far as your items - see where you can downsize and put some things into | | storage. Also talk to your Principal about purchasing 3 or 4 moving carts with shelves. I have one in my home office that has 3 deep shelves and 4 narrow ones. You can store a lot in them. Perhaps you can put all math in one, all art in one, etc., so that moving things in and out would be much easier on you and on whoever has to do it for the weekend.Look for some other creative solutions - can the church purchase a few movable bulletin boards - we had these in our church (actually a church member made 3 or 4 of them) One side was a chalk-board and the other side was bulletin board (now you could use whiteboards instead). These stayed in our chapel but were just turned around so the display sides were against the wall and the whiteboard side faced out. And they could be rolled into the hallways as well if necessary. - Figure out 3 or 4 alternate locations that you could do activities the other poster mentioned. Always have things planned for these locations so you are not surprised short notice. - If you find out a day or two ahead you will be losing the room for a long period of time - plan a last minute field trip (bowling, swimming, to a museum).
Also within your meeting discuss all these other disruptions - a Spanish class should not need the chapel - they should either stay in their own classroom or perhaps they can go outside, etc, if necessary. I can understand in the event of a death and for the regular Sunday services, but the rest of the time you shouldn't have to worry about moving. It's difficult being in a private school because they do call the shots and often you don't want to "rock the boat" because it can affect your job status. However if a job is that stressful then you have to stand up. Remember teaching is a job, you still need to take care of yourself and your health.
