Just a bit of advise...

I'd probably do a search for the state's educational site for special education.

For instance in my state, there's a website for the Department of Mental Retardation. Once on that site, you'll find the complete breakdown on that state's abbreviations, lingo and the process used. If you read up on your state's qualifications and processes, I'm sure you'll do just fine.
