It's a great idea to send your students a welcoming postcard or letter. I think it relieves a lot of stress on their part, and their parents too, because now they'll know which room to go to. I agree with "G".... keep it simple, as if it's addressed to the child. Maybe mention what decoration you have on your door, to make your room easy to find.
