When you talk to the principal bring up the fact that you are already familiar with the school & district policies, are a familiar face with the students & staff and have already become a part of the school "family". You, therefore, would be the better candidate than someone that would be coming in "from the outside". {Think: less training time (aka: breaking in a new teacher) = more time for them to deal with other things.) Good Luck!
