Hard to do
By JulieP

Clip to ScrapBook
From what I understand, it is very hard to do. THe parent's rights have to be terminated and then emancipation granted. In order to get your status, you have to go to court. And unless the law has changed, or you get a Really nice judge, most minors wind up in the foster system if parents rights are terminated.

If the home situation is terrible, suggest that teh person speak to a guidance counselor at school.
