    Hi Diane! I used my social studies series as non-fiction I looked for natural breaks in my reading series- at end of chapter/unit and supplemented with my ss- just alternate between the two.. or of course if something is able to be tied together - do that..our reading series had units such as friendship, courage, etc... so I would use our state history as resources- relationships between Native Americans and settlers, or Revolutionary war... look through your reading and fit in the ss where it fits!
