Here's a lunch idea that works...

At my first school, we had a rule that you could not talk until lunch was halfway over, and then only on the teacher's cue (the PRIVILEGE to talk during the second half was an incentive NOT to talk for the first half!) By the time lunch is halfway done, most of the kids are finished eating. This worked great for me.
Another thing: Make sure everyone cleans their "spot" and pushes in their chair before leaving. The cafeteria workers will brag on your class, I guarantee it!
