I send a welcoming postcard, telling them I'm excited to see them, mentioning the date, in case they forgot, and what room. This year I'll be saying "look for the big green frog on the door". I do it just to relieve the mystery, and make it easier to find the right room instead of lining up by a list posted on a door. Also, if the note is returned, we know they've moved and may not be coming to our school. Be sure you have the approval of your principal.
