I did this activity with my Grade 5's last year and only one actually followed the directions properly. It was a real eye-opener for them to realize how important it is to read instructions carefully before beginning a test. No one was embarassed, as all but one was doing the same silly things. I used it near the end of the year though, when we had a safe classroom community running. I would hesitate to use it at the beginning of the year before the kids feel safe with each other and you.
