How about if they were a fish (or underwater creature)what would they look like, what find would they be, where they live, etc.
Perhaps a number of them have seen the Nemo movie (or The Little Mermaid). [Perhaps you can view one of the Mermaid videos?] Lead a discussion of the movie and they can write about their favorite parts or characters or perhaps about their next adventure. Good Luck! Sounds like a cute idea. You could even use paper cut in a fish shape or with an "under the sea" border?
