Great ideas from everyone! I would suggest more than just one week lead time. Some parents work on the weekend or may have other plans. If families are going to help collect things to share, invite relatives, etc. more time may be needed. Perhaps all the dates could be available for sign-up at Back to School Night and parents could chose a date if they have a preference or know grandma is coming to visit in Nov. Or maybe kids could share the week of their birthday with summer birthdays sprinkled in on empty weeks.
