We had daily cursive practice after lunch, yes they groaned. End of every week they had to write a short paragraph for a grade (1-5 points, 5 being high) When they started getting sloppy about their daily writing, about April, I started collecting the daily practice and grading it,I didn't record it though but at least that way they had some accountability. After spring break all spelling tests were in cursive. The previous teacher had them do everything in cursive from the 3rd quarter on. I wlll probably go that route too since they are able just not willing.
