copping out
By cdg

Clip to ScrapBook
We have encountered a number of students who engage in conversation to get out of work. We work with young kids(pre-K and K) who need help (therapy) in a variety of areas (speech, OT, PT, etc.)and they will start to strike up a conversation when we ask them to do something that is challenging for them. A constant string of chatter will come out of them & we sometimes get ourselves "caught up" in it & before we know it, therapy time is over & we didn't get done what we had set out to do! They can learn to be manipulators very early in life.
