I also did the same thing you did my first year. I unpacked everything and never made any progress - other teachers were actually coming in my room and going "Oh my gosh! What a mess!" Just try to work on one section of the room at a time instead of skipping from one place to another. Also write a checklist down of things you wish to do with your room, it will help. And always remember to work on the things that need to be done immediately - the things parents will see during Open House! Some things can be sorted out, organized, or decorated later.
