morning routine

I agree with the book idea. I always stand and greet each of my students and parents at the door.
They hang up coats, backpacks,ect. The next thing they do is go to the bookshelf, grab a book and find a place on the carpet. This is a great time for them to "read" with friends and just talk. This also frees me to take care of business with parents and I know the kids are in a central location and not wandering around the room. When I go to my chair, books are put away and we are able to begin our day. Good luck!
