I taught a 5/6 last year...being my first year ever teaching. I enjoyed my kids so much, but I know that it was because of the way my class was set up. I tried to combine some learning and subjects as much as possible with out really overlapping the learning or missing the standards. Make sure to be firm on the behavior. I found it best if the kids did more independent (no talking work). By the end of the 2nd month they knew the rules of no talking, read if you are finished early on an assignment.
