Clip to ScrapBook
I used the simile that vocabulary is as vast as the sea. This really gave my students the idea that there are a lot of words worth knowing and exploring, just like exploring the sea. My word wall's slogan is "A vast sea of words just waiting to be discovered", which incidently tied in with our school's reading incentive program. I used cutouts of different sealife to help decorate the word wall. If you are doing different words each week, you could call the new words the "Catch of week". Students on their own, would suggest other "seaworthy" words they felt should be included on our word wall. Hope this helps.
