journals
By Sue W.

Clip to ScrapBook
End of the day journaling sounds like a good idea. Would reading the novel work out at a different time? I know for primary grades, just as the kids have returned from recess or P.E., listening lets them relax and get back into work mode.
I did journaling with 2nd graders and it was a great experience. At first I tried to read and write a bit to each one, each day, which was a tremendous motivator but humanly impossible. Then I divided it up. a few each day, but kept the option open if they had something they REALLY needed to have me read sooner to hand that in any day.
