I can relate to your feelings, although my students would be considered a genius class compared to your students. I have been in the field a very short time, so I cannot give you any words of wisdom that can keep you "up". When working with special children, we must celebrate the small triumphs, things often taken for granted in the regular classroom. Celebrate when a day has gone by & no one's been biten, kicked or punched. Rejoice when a child was able to follow directions after only one prompt. Through a party when someone was able to spell their name! Good Luck and remember those sick days can also be used for a teacher's mental health break.
