class meetings
By Jennifer

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach Kindergarten and my goal this year is to have class meetings daily based on Jane Nelsen, Positive Discipline and other educators. They can be very powerful and getting students to come up with solutions to problems themselves. It creates bonding among them and class community. You sit in a circle, start with compliments and then teach them how to discuss issues using an agenda. When a student "tattles", I plan to say, Put it on the agenda for our next meeting! I will have a special clipboard for this. I use a special wand that we pass around. Only the one holding it may speak as we all listen. According to the experts this process improves behavior.
