I barely passed with a D the first time I took College Algebra, and I made it all the way to Calculus in high school. My problem was the professor and the tutor. I had to take it again because my college would not accept a D for my admission into teacher ed. Later on, I found out that I didn't even need college algebra, in fact they had a math class just for elementary teachers.

Go talk to your academic advisor on campus. Ask him/her what you best plan of action is, and explain that math has been a difficult subject for as long as you can remember. Your advisor may be able to offer some alternatives.
