Hired day before

I was hired the day before school started and the teachers were threatening to strike. They didn't but they opted to do no extras--bulletin boards, taking work home, etc, until the contract was settled. It was crazy but somehow I managed. Just wanted you to know that school systems do interview late and if you get the job best wishes. I heard it over and over again my first year from older teachers, "the first year is the toughest." Looking back to that year four years ago I can say it was the year that I worked the hardest and learned a lot (note you learn a lot every year.) The kids survived and I did too.
