tadpoles
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
You can buy tadpoles as well as fertilized frog eggs. I get them from Carolina Biological - www.carolina.com. They also have tiny water frog tadpoles which are easier to raise. Please, please read the information they have on their website about frogs. If you get your tadpoles from a local lake you can let them go into the same lake. But, you shouldn't let purchased frogs go into the wild. Even if they appear healthy, they can carry diseases that can damage the local frog population. It is ok for kids to adopt the frogs and keep them as pets. They do need live food when they are grown, however. I fed mine earthworms and crickets both of which can be purchased at pet stores.
