Clip to ScrapBook
I don't know if this really builds the classroom community so much, but it's something I vividly remember when I took Spanish (100 years ago!). On the first day, we were all given our name in Spanish - and that's what we called each other in that class. I thought it was so cool to hear my name in another language! If needed, you could make a bulletin board display showing the American names in ABC order, then the French ones next to it. That way the kids could easily look at a name if they couldn't remember their French one. That might take up a lot of room, though, it depends on your number of students!

Enjoy your 1st year!!!!
