more thoughts on skipping
By Amie

Clip to ScrapBook
Like many of the other posters, I also skipped a grade in elementary school. I skipped third grade, which came with its own set of issues (multiplication, cursive, changing classes!). The other posters have raised many
good issues. Another problem this child might encounter from skipping fourth grade is organization. In my experience, 4th grade is the point where kids (hopefully!) establish their organizational skills. This student might need some extra help with his organization.

Another issue to look at is the new social group. In my case, skipping a grade moved me into a better social group -

students who were stronger academically, more interested in school activities, and generally more positive. So, even though the adjustment was tough, skipping a grade was a good choice for me.
